ART DIRECTOR + GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Contact

FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY involves painstaking patience, attentiveness, timing and stunt doubles. It’s a labor of love with killer lighting as the main course. As an art director, I want to honor the craft of cooking while keeping an eye on the big picture with a mouth full of leftovers.

CO-CREATING WITH TALENT is instant gratification. It begins with effective and gracious communication that ends with an inspired collaboration. I especially enjoy the energy kids bring to a set. Art directing anyone, especially kids, is a balance of gentle guidance and stepping back to create space for happy accidents.

A DWELLING CAPTURED IN TIME, a glimpse that reveals a way of life that is easy, elegant and desirable. Effortlessness rocks, and sometimes it rolls with a hand truck, ramp, furniture sliders, lifting straps, moving blankets, dollies, leather gloves, water bottles, and an army of tireless assistants.

Greek Pi'e

Rogue Spicy Dark Chocolate Brownie

How-to, visual recipe using lovely still photography and stop motion animation. Yum.

Joyfully Cricket

“Life On Purpose” music video by inspirational songwriter and musician Karen Garratt.

As a photo art director, I often find myself asking extraordinary questions while on set. For example, can you gold stamp chocolate frosting? Should the vase make friends with the lamp or the books instead? Does anybody have any bubbles on hand? Is that mud on my boots or chocolate cake?

Not only do I love what I do but I also have the privilege of working alongside amazing creatives. My goal is to create an environment of collaboration and transparency, and to maximize everyone’s talents while maintaining my unique point of view. Through the years, I’ve learned to embrace change, that my failures have been my greatest lessons, and that being comfortable isn’t always a good thing.

Asking extraordinary questions can lead to extraordinary solutions.

And in case you are wondering about those questions: It was cake on my boots, stylists always have bubbles, the vase and books became friends, and yes, to my delight, you can gold stamp chocolate frosting.
